According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of March 5, the number of container ships in operation in the world totaled 6530, with a total capacity of 2.6551 million TEU, equivalent to 0.318 billion dwt. Among them, the total capacity of the top three liner companies accounted for 46.25 per cent of the global market. The top three global liner companies in terms of capacity are Mediterranean Shipping (4.697 million TEU, 17.69 per cent), Maersk Shipping (4.189 million TEU, 15.78 per cent) and Dafei Shipping (3.3953 million TEU, 12.79 per cent).
Alphaliner pointed out that COSCO Shipping Group, Hapg-Lloyd, Evergreen Shipping, Ocean Network Shipping (ONE), Modern Merchant Shipping, Yangming Shipping and Yixing Shipping ranked 4th and 10th in terms of capacity. The top 7 of them all have more than 1.5 million TEU.
Ranked 11th to 20th are: Wanhai Shipping, Taiping Shipping, Haifeng International, Koryo Shipping (KMTC), Zhonggu Shipping, X-Press Feeders Group, Iran Air China (IRISL), UniFeeder, Sea Lead Shipping and Changjin Merchant Shipping.
Among the mainland liner companies on the list, COSCO Shipping ranked 4th, Haifeng International ranked 13th, Zhonggu Xinliang Shipping ranked 15th, Antong Holdings (Quanzhou AXA Shipping) ranked 22nd, Zoomlion Shipping ranked 32nd, Sinotrans Shipping ranked 33rd, Ningbo Ocean Shipping ranked 34th, Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping ranked 35th, Taicang Port Container Shipping ranked 64th, Dalian Trade Wind ranked 69th, tianjin Datong Shipping ranked 82nd, Haian Xingang Port ranked 90th, Guangxi Hongxiang Shipping ranked 95th, Rongshang Logistics (Shanghai) ranked 97th.
