Forwardernet.com: MSC adds Jaxport stops in transatlantic service

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announced that it will add Jacksonville Port (Jaxport) as its new stop point to transatlantic services for Florida's food and beverage, forest products and auto parts exporters directly to Northern Europe.

This decision aims to provide the company's customers with faster and more reliable service. The call to Jaxport will be attached to Mediterranean Shipping Company's independent Baltic-Nordic-US East Coast "Scan Baltic to US" service to better serve Florida and East Coast customers.

With the arrival of MSC Olia, it will begin calling SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal (JCT) at the Blunt Island Marine Terminal in Jaxport at the end of April, said Jaxport. The service will call Jaxport every two weeks.

MSC also added scanning Baltic services in Felixstow, Antwerp and Le Havre this month, starting in March 2022. Scanning the Baltic Sea to the United States marks Jaxport's second transatlantic service and fifth container service.

the addition of Jacksonville will add a week to the voyage, meaning ships docked there will take seven weeks to complete the round trip, according to Alphaliner. MSC said the service consisted of six vessels with capacities ranging from 4200 to 6700 TEUs. The service's other stops in the United States include New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia ports.
