On April 6,, China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. and France's Dafei Shipping Group (CMA CGM) formally signed a cooperation agreement in Beijing, including the construction of 12 15000 TEU methanol dual-fuel power large container ships and 4 23000 TEU liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel power super-large container ships, with an amount of more than 21 billion yuan, setting a new record for the largest amount of container ships signed at one time by China's shipbuilding industry, this order is also the first batch of China Shipping Group to undertake methanol fuel power tank ship orders.

The 12 15000 TEU methanol dual-fuel power large container ships built by this time were built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. under China Shipbuilding Group. Independent research and development and design. It is understood that the 15000 TEU methanol dual-fuel power large container ship built this time has a total length of 366 meters, a width of 51 meters, and a depth of 30.2 meters. It can carry 156000 tons of cargo. It uses green methanol as the main fuel and can achieve net zero for the whole voyage. Emission, with completely independent intellectual property rights. At the same time, after rigorous, rigorous and rigorous scientific testing, the ship's energy efficiency design index (EEDI) can be reduced by more than 60%, meeting the world's most stringent emission requirements.

The four 23000 TEU LNG dual-fuel power super-large container ships built by this time are upgraded versions of the nine container ships of the same type completed and delivered in June 2021. They are built by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, and independently developed and designed by the 78th Institute, with completely independent intellectual property rights. The ship has a total length of 399.9 meters, a width of 61.3 meters, a depth of 33.5 meters and a deck area of 23978 square meters, which is equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields. It can hold 23000 standard containers at a time and can carry 220000 tons of cargo. This type of ship adopts the world's largest dual-fuel power W12X92DF mainframe independently developed and manufactured by WinGD Company, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, and is equipped with a 18600 cubic meter MARKIII membrane fuel tank to load LNG and provide "green power" for the ship. It is praised as a model ship type of "independent research and development + design + operation + construction + supporting" mode of Chinese ships.

As an important strategic partner, China Shipbuilding Group and France's Dafei Group have always adhered to the principles of equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation to jointly respond to the market situation and innovate business models together. According to statistics, in the past 10 years, France's Dafei Group has successively ordered more than 70 green and high value-added container ships under China Shipbuilding Group, of which more than 30 have been completed and delivered, including the first 18000 TEU super large container ship project built by China Shipbuilding Group with more than 10,000 boxes, and the world's first LNG power 23000TEU super large container ship project.

On the afternoon of the, Wan Min, Chairman of COSCO Shipping Group, Rudolf Sade, Chairman and CEO of France's Dafei Group, and Gu Jinshan, Chairman of SIPG, jointly signed the ''Regarding the Development of Green Methanol Supply Cooperation for Port Ships in the Great Hall of the People. Memorandum of ". According to the memorandum, the three parties will work together to purchase, supply and deliver marine green methanol fuel for the future dual-fuel methanol fleet of Dafei Shipping and COSCO Shipping in major ports in China, including Shanghai Port.

It is reported that COSCO Shipping is accelerating its decarbonization action and is committed to providing greener, lower-carbon and smarter shipping services to meet the needs of the industry's sustainable development and help customers achieve the ambitious goal of carbon neutrality. At present, its COSCO has ordered 12 methanol-powered dual-fuel container ships.

The signing of the marine green methanol supply cooperation project is not only an important instruction for COSCO Shipping to actively explore the important practice of high-quality development of shipping enterprises around the important directive requirements of "conforming to the new trend of green, low-carbon and intelligent shipping industry" put forward by President Xi Jinping in his congratulatory letter to the 2021 Shanghai North Bund International Shipping Forum; it is also an important measure for the group to thoroughly implement the national "carbon peak" and "carbon neutral" major strategies and promote the green and low-carbon development of the global shipping industry.
