On May 30, the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN) announced that the Ocean Network Shipping (ONE) has become its newest member.
Formed and officially operational in Hong Kong in March 2021, GSBN is an independent, not-for-profit technology consortium that aims to build a blockchain-based operating system that will redefine global trade. The platform will facilitate trusted collaboration between different and competing market participants and will work to improve the industry's efficiency and resilience.
GSBN's shareholders include well-known liner companies and port operators: COSCO Shipping Container Lines, COSCO Shipping Ports, Hapco-Lloth, Hutchison Port Group, Orient Overseas, Shandong Port Qingdao Port, PSA International Port Group and Shanghai International Port Group.
For ONE's latest addition, GSBN CEO Chen Shijia said: "The shipping industry is at a critical juncture, and digitalization has the potential to achieve a huge leap forward in the industry. If all parties in the industry want to achieve digital transformation success, they need trustworthy cooperation."
He welcomes ONE to join and looks forward to working with ONE to further promote the industry's digitalization process.
It is understood that GSBN has previously worked with ONE's customers on the Cargo Release (paperless delivery business) trial and achieved success.
The Cargo Release is a solution for all parties involved in the port of entry in a paperless, efficient and transparent manner. The business has the advantages of saving time, reducing costs, no contact, etc., registration is simple, so that customers can complete the pick-up without leaving home.
On joining the GSBN Alliance, ONE Executive Vice President Kosuke Wada said: "ONE is committed to providing digital services to improve customer transportation efficiency.
