Recently, the Djibouti Ports and Free Zone Authority (Djibouti Ports and Free Zone Authority) issued an official announcement, stating that from June 15, 2023, all goods discharged at the Djibouti port, regardless of the final destination, must hold an ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking List) certificate.

It is understood that some African countries require an official loading document, the Electronic Cargo Tracking List (ECTN).

from June 15, 2023, the Port of Djibouti will require an ECTN. ECTN certificates contain in-depth information about your products, how they are transported between ports, and how long it takes. Before arriving at the port, each shipment must be accompanied by an ECTN certificate. With this certification, the authorities of the destination port receive all the necessary information before the arrival of the goods and facilitate your product clearance.

According to Djibouti CTN website data, the ECTN certificate fee is USD 100 / TEU;USD 150 / FEU

About Djibouti

The Port of Djibouti is a port in Djibouti, the capital of the Republic of Djibouti. It is located at the crossroads of one of the world's busiest shipping routes, connecting Europe, the Far East, the Horn of Africa and the Persian Gulf. The port is an important bunkering and transshipment center and a major seaborne outlet for neighbouring Ethiopia's imports and exports. An estimated 2,500 ships pass through and dock at the port every day.

Djibouti's economy relies heavily on the strategic location of its port, as about 1/3 of the world's daily shipping passes through the northeastern edge of Africa. The port has been at the center of a legal dispute between port operator DP World and the government of Djibouti since a presidential decree revoked DP World's port concession in 2018.

The Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) is the government agency that manages the Port of Djibouti and other ports in the country. The organization also oversees national free zones, acting as a liaison between companies working in them and other government agencies.
