Unifeeder has lost the world's largest regional liner operator title!

Alphaliner said that the Singapore-based X-Press Feeders has continuously expanded its feeder fleet, so that the capacity ranking has surpassed the development direction of the opposite Unifeeder, and the title of the world's largest feeder ship operator has changed from Unifeeder to X-Press Feeders.

A feeder ship is a medium-sized freighter, usually with a short voyage, carrying cargo from a large container hub to a smaller port in the same area.

Since June 2022, X-Press Feeders has expanded its fleet capacity by 2.1 percent, while Unifeeder's fleet capacity has been reduced by more than 25,000 teu, a decrease of 17.9 percent.

Since the end of 2022, the Unifeeder has cut freight services several times, including cutting refrigerated transport between the Nordic and Baltic countries after demand fell.

That alone cut more than 7000 TEU capacity, which was later taken over by other short-haul lines.

According to Alphaliner data, the X-Press Feeders currently has a total capacity of 138063TEU, of which 37 are its own ships with a capacity of 76724TEU. The share of its own ships has increased from 42% in 2021 to 56% today. In addition, the X-Press Feeders currently has 25 new container ships with a capacity of 83070TEU.

The Unifeeder total capacity is 116637TEU, and there is no own ship, all are chartered, the number of new ships is zero.
