EVA Shipping and CJ Logistics agreed to Asia to the United States, Asia to Europe container cargo, to provide competitive freight rates and shipping.

The current container transport market, some liner companies through the acquisition of the expansion of logistics business, but also liner companies through the third party logistics company (3PL) cooperation to expand business, Taiwan's largest liner company Evergreen Shipping recently have this action.

Recently, EVA Shipping and South Korea's largest 3PL company CJ Logistics(CJL) signed a cooperation agreement aimed at "revitalizing global logistics".

Evergreen Shipping General Manager Xie Huiquan and CJL Global Department Head Byoung Kang, on behalf of the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding.


According to the agreement, EVA Shipping and CJL agreed to actively cooperate for Asia to the United States, Asia to Europe container cargo, to provide competitive freight rates and shipping space.

The two sides also agreed to jointly expand the Far East and Southeast Asia between the container cargo volume, and jointly develop end-to-end services and other more business.

Through this cooperation, EVA Shipping hopes to use CJL's logistics network to increase freight volume, while CJL hopes to obtain more competitive freight rates.

Regarding this cooperation, Evergreen Shipping spokesperson said: "As the shipping industry is included in the EU Emissions Trading System, the cooperation agreement with CJL will help us achieve carbon neutrality."

CJL spokesperson said that this cooperation can provide the lack of funds to acquire the logistics company's liner company, provide opportunities to expand business and achieve complementary advantages.


In addition, Evergreen Shipping has a capacity enhancement plan in the near future.

news from the South Korean shipyard shows that Evergreen Shipping is planning to order 24 16000TEU dual-fuel container ships at a transaction price of about US $4 billion. At present, shipyards in China, Japan and South Korea are participating in this new shipbuilding program tender.

Xie Huiquan believed at the time that by the second half of this year, destocking will bottom out, coupled with the arrival of the traditional transportation peak season in the third quarter, the overall shipping boom will continue to rebound.

He further said that in the third quarter of 2023, freight rates will rise and stabilize in the fourth quarter. Freight rates will not rise and fall as before, and competitive companies still have profit opportunities.
