On July 6, the Suez Canal Authority (Suez Canal Authority) announced that, in order to further facilitate traffic through the Suez Canal, it issued a new toll reduction notice for "chemicals and other liquids in bulk" tankers:
A. For chemical and other liquid bulk carriers operating between the "US Bay" on one side and India and its eastern ports (including the Far East) on the other side, the following refund percentages shall be obtained:
1, the Indian subcontinent west of the port (from the "Pakistan Karachi", until the western India Cochin), should receive the Suez Canal normal tolls of 25% discount.
2, located in the "Cochin Port" east to the "Klang Port" before the port, should receive the Suez Canal normal tolls 55% discount.
3. "Port Klang" and its eastern ports should receive a 75% discount on the normal Suez Canal tolls.
B. For "North American East Coast" ports and India and its eastern ports (including the Far East) operating between the following areas of chemical and other liquid bulk carriers, should receive the following refund percentage:
1, located in the "Cochin Port" east to the "Klang Port" before the port, should receive the Suez Canal normal tolls 15% discount.
2. "Port Klang" and its eastern ports should receive a 25% discount on the normal Suez Canal tolls.
The Suez Canal Authority stated that this notice will be effective from July 1, 2023 for ships sailing from the port of departure.
