Chinese customs banned the import of Japan's Fukushima and other ten counties (all) food, from other parts of Japan's food, especially aquatic products (including edible aquatic animals), strict implementation of 100 percent inspection.


July 7, the General Administration of Customs Import and Export Food Safety Bureau responsible person, on the International Atomic Energy Agency released Japan's Fukushima nuclear contaminated water disposal comprehensive assessment report to answer reporters' questions.

The person in charge said that since the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident, China Customs has always attached great importance to the radioactive contamination of Japanese food exported to China caused by the accident, and closely followed the Japanese government's Fukushima nuclear accident after the relevant measures. Carry out the Japanese food radioactive contamination risk assessment and timely response.

In order to prevent radioactive contaminated Japanese food from being exported to China and protect Chinese consumers from importing food safety, Chinese customs prohibits the import of Japanese Fukushima and other ten counties (all) food. For food from other parts of Japan, especially aquatic products (Including edible aquatic animals), strictly review the accompanying certification documents, strengthen supervision, strictly implement 100 inspection, and continue to strengthen the detection and monitoring of radioactive materials, ensure the safety of food exported from Japan to China and prevent the import of risky products.

China Customs has taken note of the comprehensive assessment report recently issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Japan's Fukushima nuclear contaminated water discharge plan. The report did not fully reflect the views of all the experts involved in the assessment, and the conclusions were not unanimously endorsed by the experts.
