After accepting the order of this batch of ships, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International, under the guidance of the expert group of large container ships of China Shipbuilding Group, actively carried out technical research on the construction of large container ships, and successively solved the technical problems such as cutting and welding of crack arrest steel and automatic welding of crack arrest steel robot.

It is understood that large container ships need to bear huge container weight during the transportation process. Under the action of waves, they are prone to torsion and cracking. In order to ensure the strength of the hull, it is necessary to use large thickness, high strength, with strong low temperature toughness, stress and cracking resistance in the position of the whole ship, such as the deck, hatch wall, etc., where the strength of the whole ship is the largest, so as to effectively guarantee the crack resistance and structural stability of large container ships.

Crack stop steel can be up to 85mm thick, and one-time success must be ensured during the cutting and welding process. For the first contact with this material, how to effectively ensure the quality and efficiency of cutting and welding is the key technical problem that must be solved in the construction of super large container ships. At the beginning of the project, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International Large Container Ship Project Team, in conjunction with the Manufacturing Department, the Planning and Construction Security Department and the Construction and Law Research Institute, set up a cracking steel research team, which successfully overcome the technical problems of cutting and welding large thickness cracking steel.

In order to improve production efficiency and vigorously promote energy conservation and environmental protection, GSI has overcome the technical problems of anti-cracking steel cutting and welding, and further overcome the welding robot automatic welding anti-cracking steel technology and pentane cutting technology, forming its own characteristics of anti-cracking steel cutting and welding technology advantages.

Through continuous technological innovation, this type of ship has led the development trend of super large container ships in terms of green environmental protection. The ship is equipped with a desulfurization and denitrification system, ships 1 to 6 reserve liquefied natural gas (LNG) power functions, and ships 7 to 8 use LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems to meet the latest environmental emission standards. The ship is also equipped with the world's leading air drag reduction system, which can spray air on the bottom surface of the ship, reduce sailing resistance and effectively improve fuel efficiency. As the latest generation of large container ships, this type of ship is not only green and environmentally friendly, but also energy-saving and efficient, and all technical indicators have reached the world's leading level.

"This ship is equipped with a shaft belt generator with a power of 4000kW, and when the ship is sailing normally, this shaft belt generator is connected to the grid with a main generator, which can meet the electricity demand of the whole ship. The navigation test some time ago fully proved the superiority of the performance of the shaft belt generator of this ship, which was approved by the shipowner's ship inspection." Project manager Yang Wei said. This is also the ship's energy saving performance is an important manifestation of excellence.

It is understood that up to now, the "most" of the three main ship types (oil tankers, bulk carriers, and container ships) built in South China have been created by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International. In addition to the 16000TEU container ship "MSC NOA ARIEILA(MSC Noah Alila)" delivered this time, they are the 320000-ton very large crude oil ship (VLCC) series delivered in 2014 and the 300000-ton very large ore ship (VLOC) series delivered in 2019.
