The latest data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange show that on August 18, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange released the Shanghai Export Container Composite Freight Index of 1031 points, a slight decrease of 1.2 per cent from the previous period.

Among them, Shanghai Port exports to the European basic port of the market freight rate (sea and sea surcharge) fell 8% in a single week to 852 US dollars/TEU.

It is worth noting that this is the European freight since August for the third consecutive week of decline, and the decline was further widening trend!

It is understood that recently Alphaliner in its latest weekly report said that the Asia-Europe route of the suspension jump port has become a liner operator's "routine operation".

Drewry data shows that scheduled flights declined in August, while idle capacity increased. Excluding empty ships, only 573 voyages were scheduled on the main routes throughout the month, compared with an average of 600-650 voyages per month during April-July.

In addition, MSC to "demand slowdown" as a reason, for three consecutive weeks to cancel its from Asia to the Nordic independent route-Swan, which makes cargo owners have begun to question whether the service will be suspended.

Although the shipping companies continue to increase the European line of the suspension of the port number, but the European line freight still can not stop the continued decline!

In addition to the Shanghai-European basic port freight rates fell, Shanghai exports to the Mediterranean basic port, as well as exports to the United States and West routes freight rates are also slightly lower.

Shanghai Shipping Exchange data show that on August 18, Shanghai Port exports to the Mediterranean basic port market freight rate (shipping and shipping surcharge) was 1500 US dollars/TEU, down 0.5 per cent from the previous period;

Shanghai Port exports to the United States West and the market freight rate (sea freight and sea freight surcharge) was 2003 US dollars/FEU, down 0.7 per cent from the previous period.

Unlike the US-West, perhaps due to the Panama Canal congestion restrictions, the US-East route freight rates edged up 1.3 per cent to $3110/FEU.
