Japan's postal ship shares in Indonesia's automobile terminal PICT

On June 30, Nippon Mail (NYK) from Toyota Tsusho (Toyota Tsusho Corporation) acquired the Indonesian port of Patimban car terminal operator PT.Patimban International Car Terminal ("PICT") 25% of the shares, the delivery was completed on August 18.

The Port of Patimban, located 120 kilometers east of central Jakarta, has been under construction in phases since 2018. In 2022, the terminal can handle 220000 vehicles per year and is currently being expanded to increase the handling capacity to 600000 vehicles per year.


's other international port in Jakarta, Tanjung Priok, has been congested for a long time due to the increase in cargo volume. In addition, traffic congestion on the roads connecting the port and the eastern industrial park in Jakarta, where many Japanese companies are located, has caused delays in the import and export of auto parts and vehicles. Full operation of the Patimban port is expected to address these issues.

Japan Postal said that through the PICT equity participation, will be able to provide customers with the best logistics services, including access to the Indonesian market of vehicles and construction equipment manufacturers, and for the development of the Indonesian economy to contribute.

After the acquisition, PICT's shareholding structure is as follows, Toyota Tongshang Group holds 34%,Toyofuji Shipping holds 26%, Nippon Shipping holds 25%, and Kamigumi holds 15%.
