AP Moller-Maersk has partnered with the Port of Salalah and Oman Airport to successfully deliver air and sea logistics solutions through Oman for shipments from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Cairo, Egypt.
Salalah Port and Oman Airport became Maersk's preferred partners to execute innovative solutions, through transportation time and cost between the right balance, for customers to enhance integrated logistics solutions.

The pilot cargo transport for the Sea-Air solution is retail and lifestyle cargo from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Cairo, Egypt. The first leg of transport was carried out on Maersk's ship from Colombo to Salalah. The goods are unloaded from the port of Salalah and transported under the customs bonded corridor to Salalah airport. After the cargo arrived at the cargo terminal at Salalah Airport, it passed security checks and was preferentially airlifted to Cairo, Egypt.
Sea-Air solutions offer several benefits to Maersk's customers. Compared with pure sea transportation, it can help reduce the transportation time of traditional east-west trade routes by 20-40%, and save 10-20% of the cost compared with pure air transportation solutions.
