Tampa Bay Port has approved plans to build a 500000-square-foot transshipment facility to support a more efficient cargo flow for beneficiary cargo owners (BCOs) in one of the fastest growing states in the United States.


The port said in a statement on Tuesday that Tradepoint Atlantic, a Maryland-based multimodal logistics company, will design, build and operate the warehouse distribution center, which will be located at the container terminal adjacent to Tampa Hook Point.

"Our market is booming, Florida is now the fastest growing state in the United States, and the Tampa Bay/l-4 Corridor region is the fastest growing region in the state," Paul Anderson, president and CEO of Port, said in the statement." "This new facility will provide greater efficiency and capacity for our beneficiary shipper customers."


Tampa Bay Port handles more than 34 million tons of cargo each year, including containers, refrigerated cargo, bulk and bulk cargo.
