Forwarder Network: HMM is about to launch independent services from Asia to India and the Mediterranean

06月28日 12:27:43

Due to India and the Mediterranean growing freight demand, HMM said in August will launch from Asia to India and the Mediterranean independent services.

HMM Airlines will deploy its own 8000 to 11000 TEU vessels on the Far East-India-Mediterranean (FIM) service, and HMM BLESSING will be the first ship on this new service, starting August 6 from Busan for the maiden voyage, beginning an 84-day round trip.

the order of ports for the new HMM route will be Busan, Guangyang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Port Bashang, Katupali, Navasheba, Mundra, Karachi, Jeddah (Suez Canal), Damietta, Piraeus, Genoa, Valencia, Barcelona, Piraeus, Daimieta (Suez Canal), Kavinaratu, Karachi, Karachi, singapore, Tai Chang Bay and Busan.

HMM said that with India gaining high traction with an annual growth rate of more than 7%, in addition to introducing FIM services, we expect to expand our reach to India and the Mediterranean region to provide a better quality service offering a more reliable service portfolio.

With global capacity significantly exceeding demand, carriers are looking for profitable trade routes to deploy their surplus ships, and the Asia-Mediterranean route is currently in a difficult position in terms of rates and volumes.

The latest data from the Container Trade Statistics (CTS) shows that container imports from the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea increased by 38.5 percent year-on-year to 296,218 TEUs in April, while imports from the Western Mediterranean increased by 21.7 percent to 267,537 TEUs. Before that, Asian-Western Mediterranean imports rose 8 percent in March and Eastern Mediterranean imports rose 39 percent.

April Asia-Northern Europe freight volume rose only 2.4 percent to 882000 TEUs.

the differences in rates between Asia-Northern Europe and Asia-Mediterranean are equally pronounced. Although the prices of these two routes are down more than 80% year-on-year, according to the Drewry's World Container Index (Drewry's World Container Index), the spot freight rate from Shanghai to Rotterdam this week is US $1,349 per FEU, while the freight rate from Shanghai to Genoa is US $2,130 per FEU.

Following the March 2020 new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) outbreak and the interruption of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (Mediterranean Shipping co .) operated by China and the Mediterranean between the "Dragon" (Dragon) route resumed, HMM launched a new route.

the service was once offered as part of the 2M alliance under the AE-20/Dragon label, with the dissolution of MSC's alliance with Maersk, it will operate a stand-alone service using nine 130000 teu vessels. The re-launch of the Asia-Mediterranean route after three years allowed MSC to take advantage of its abundant capacity-the company's order book was 1.8 million TEUs-to engage in more attractive trade than the Nordic destinations.
