Freight Forwarding Network News: Revision of Booking Policy for Export Goods Containing Lithium Batteries and Ni-MH Batteries

07月12日 12:56:01

Dear customer

In view of lithium batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries caused by the accident, I revised the non-dangerous goods battery cargo booking policy to ensure safe transportation and stowage management.

According to the battery type and capacity, the goods will be classified as dangerous goods (DG) or non-dangerous goods.

Even non-hazardous lithium and nickel metal hydride battery cargo will be considered fire hazardous items and should be stored on deck, away from heat sources.

For all export goods containing batteries, the shipper must truthfully declare the name of the goods at the time of booking. Depending on the regulatory requirements and transport safety requirements, shippers are required to submit additional information during the booking confirmation process or the preparation of the bill of lading, such as cargo safety technical specifications (MSDS), test reports, lithium content of lithium metal batteries or rated watt hours of lithium ion batteries, product pictures, etc.

The of correct declaration information is essential for proper transport arrangements and stowage, as well as for appropriate action in the event of an accident. Wrong declaration, concealment and false reporting may lead to fire and explosion, and pose a major threat to public safety and ship operation safety. Our company reserves the right to pursue legal liability to the shipper for misstatement, concealment and omission. The shipper must also bear all the losses and costs incurred accordingly.
