Orient Overseas's first-half results: revenue down 60.2 percent year-on-year

Recently, Orient Overseas (International) Limited released as of June 30, 2023 unaudited second quarter operating summary.


The announcement shows that in the second quarter of 2023: Orient Overseas's total revenue decreased by 62.6 from the same period last year to US $1.979 billion; total cargo capacity increased slightly by 1.3, carrying capacity increased by 8.7, and overall carrying rate decreased by 5.9 from the same period last year., Average revenue per TEU fell 63% year-on-year
-2023 first half: OOCL's total revenue decreased by 60.2 percent to $4.154 billion compared to the same period last year; total cargo capacity decreased by 1 percent, carrying capacity increased by 4.7 percent, overall carrying rate decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022, and average TEU revenue decreased by 59.8 percent


Specific to the major route operations, the second quarter of the Orient Overseas Atlantic route carrying volume increased by 14.4 percent year-on-year, to 128448TEU, revenue fell 36.9 percent year-on-year, to 0.24 billion U.S. dollars

The Pacific route carried 484932TEU of cargo, up 2.1 percent, and revenue down 68.7 percent to 0.65 billion U.S. dollars;

The Asia/Europe route carried 423783TEU of goods, up 5.2 per cent and revenue down 67.8 per cent to $0.45 billion per cent.

Intra-Asian/Australian routes carried 775955 TEU of cargo, down 4.3 per cent and revenue down 57.8 per cent to $0.72 billion.

Looking at the overall situation in the first half of 2023, the first half of the Orient Overseas Atlantic route carrying volume increased by 19.7 per cent to 256681TEU, while revenue fell by 18.4 per cent to 0.55 billion US dollars;

The Pacific route carried 930969TEU of cargo, down 2.2 percent, and revenue down 67.2 percent to 1.29 billion U.S. dollars;

Asia/Europe routes carried a total of 811654TEU cargo, up 0.4 percent, revenue down 67.9 percent to 0.94 billion U.S. dollars;

The intra-Asian/Australian route carried a total of 1600912TEU of cargo, down 3.6 per cent year-on-year, and revenue fell 52.7 per cent year-on-year to 1.37 billion per cent.
